MDFD4 – SELF-CONSTRUCTION MODULE

At the beginning of June our MDFD4  students explored the rammed earth technique with prof. Alessio Battistella and arch. Valerio Marazzi for the Technology and Self-Construction module – held at the Off Campus Cascina Nosedo.

This ancient building technique consists in using natural materials such as wood, cane, mud and clay. Students also had the chance to build an earthquake-proof framework with their hands following Quincha, a traditional construction system from Central and South America.
