DESIGN FOR DEVELOPMENT

ARCHITECTURE, URBAN PLANNING AND HERITAGE IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH

Workshop

The international on the ground Design Workshop consists in a trip of at least two weeks in a country in the Global South (if external conditions allow it). The costs of the flights and the accommodation are included in the tuition fee.

During the workshop students will be able to test the knowledge and the competences acquired during the theoretical lessons and the design studios, engage with local communities, stakeholders and Universities and get a first practical experience of what it means to work in a developing area.

The class will be guided by the Master’s Faculty and by local actors with frontal lessons and on the ground site inspections.

For first three editions, our students travelled to Maputo (Mozambique), while the destination for the fourth edition was San Salvador.

The fifth edition’s workshop is taking place in El Salvador too.
